David Wayne “Catfish” Alverson, 56, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born December 20, 1956, in Pine Bluff, he was a son of Bobby and LutaB Young Alverson. Mr. Alverson was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff. He was a grader operator for the Arkansas State Highway Department for twenty-five years. Mr. Alverson was also an avid commercial fisherman, following in his father’s footsteps. Mr. Alverson was preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Wanda Alverson. Survivors include his fiancé, Stacy Garriason of Pine Bluff; four sons, Jason Alverson of Pine Bluff, Chad Thompson and Jake Vendable of Star City, and Bo Woodard of Louisiana; three daughters, Brandy Ashcraft of Rye, Mandy Alverson of Pine Bluff, and Mandy Chadwick of Glendale; several grandchildren; three brothers, Sammy Alverson of White Hall, Greg Alverson of Pine Bluff, and Johnny Alverson and wife Kay of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Carolyn Jackson of Pine Bluff, and Brenda Hall of Watson Chapel. The visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors The funeral service will be during the visitation with Reverend Sammy Alverson and Reverend Gilbert Byrd officiating. Ralph Robinson & Son is in charge of cremation.
